    I’ve been to Italy, but I’ve never been to Sicily- that is until I opened Ursula Ferrigno’s “Cucina Siciliana”. I entered my first Sicilian kitchen the minute I picked up her book and felt the Italian tile-like cover. Oh, if only I had tiles like that in my own kitchen. Then, the inside cover displays a two-page photo of the island whose cuisine I’m about to discover.

    Page after page of stunningly breathtaking photos will have you walking the streets of Sicily, dipping your toes into the Mediterranean, and your mouth watering over the full-size images of the most tantalizing dishes only the Sicilians can create.

    Unlike many cookbooks, the ingredients for these fabulous recipes are things you most likely have in your pantry or won’t have to find a specialty shop to purchase. I always have chick peas on hand, so I’ve already made the fried chickpeas with herbs- ceci con salvia e origano- facile e molto delizioso.

    Of my nearly 70 cookbooks- 24 of them Italian- this is my first Sicilian cookbook and is by far one of, if not THE most beautiful of them all. If you don’t cook Sicilian, you will, and if you’ve never been to Sicily, this book is guaranteed to take you there. Buon viaggio!
